MorningInspiration - Beliefs - Who Am I - Identity Feat North Point Community Church in Atlanta Clay Scroggins
Hello
Thanks
as always for stopping by.
Hope
you enjoyed last week’s post, which gave you an insight into our lives
outside the blog.
This new blog post is inspired by Clay Scroggins (link
below). I felt so blessed by it and hope you do too.
I
think most could relate to it in some shape or form, so I would encourage you
to share this.
Best

Who
AM I?
I
received this message in a very timely fashion, as at the same time I was
writing for my book on how parental failure, left me feeling defeated. This sour
life event, turned into a belief of- I will never win in life. The relentlessness
of the emotional pain was weighing me down that I didn’t see beyond my natural
confinement. The lack of academic success only feed my insecurities and reinforced this
belief. I had a very poor self-image as
the foundations laid before me was toxic beyond comprehension.
Through
the grace of God, my emotional pain is healing and the renewal of my mind is
more apparent as I am replacing old thoughts with the Word of God- How Christ
sees me? A story that caught my attention was of Steve Pemberton, he was
brought up in care and his life events was plighted by never-ending pain. I
loved his words of, my children corrected every wrong that was in my life. You
are not defined by what you inherit, you are defined by what you build. I can
only guess his strong will of not letting his circumstances predestine his future,
allowed him to eventually break free.
How
we see ourselves has a direct impact on the life choices we make or don’t make,
so immediately the message struck a chord with me. The family you were born
will form part of your identity, which is forever changing and evolving. How we
process these life events has an even greater impact on our identity, than the
events itself. In other words our identity is formed or shaped largely by our beliefs
on these life events. The above case study is a great example of this, instead
of following the status quo on recreating the dysfunction that once broke him,
he made a conscious decision to better himself (Clay Scroggins).
I
wanted to close by answering the question of who am I?
I
am a 33 years old, a mother to a beautiful daughter named Lola. I have survived
abuse and am keen to use this experience to educate and elevate others. I hope
to become an author and speaker that engages with the audience on an intimate
level in that I feel your pain and I hope my story could be of help. I am a follower of Jesus and passionate about sharing his Word through my testimony.  I believe God’s will for me is to use my gift in writing to inspire the uninspired and motivate the unmotivated. In the words
of Josh Seabolt- hope for the hopeless, salvation for the lost and freedom for
the addiction. Living in
the spirit of Christ, has allowed me turn a mess into a message and my pain
into my purpose.
I
would love to hear from you, please comment below or just to say hello on other
SM sites.
God
Bless
