I am on a mission this year to focus on what can be changed (future) and to be at peace on what cannot be changed (past). Last month’s blog post series was all about clearing out past, hurts, pain and wounds.
This month’s theme is building on how we see things that influence how we use our time. We all have varying stories from our makeup to circumstances, which can be put into the following opposites:
- Advantage
     or disadvantage
 - Opportunity
     or obstacle
 - Aspiration
     or adversity
 - Triumph
     or trials

In other words, most things, if not all things in life, are
relative. What one deems as an advantage can also have a drawback(s). Life has
a habit of swinging in roundabouts through seasons of joy and moments of pain.
The differences in our lives set us apart and mould us into the people we are
today. Good or bad, we are human - prone to hurt and make mistakes. Our
perceptions of life may not always be accurate, but we all have a
tendency to judge on face value. Time is the common theme that
joins us together; regardless of your story, we are all given twenty four
hours in a day to potentially create or change as we see fit.
We live in an ever increasingly busy world, where most minutes
will be occupied with screens, phones, social media and everything else. Living
in a digital age has allowed advancement on an unprecedented level. However it
also can also limit living fully. The more time we spend consumed with the
little things, the less time we have for the bigger things - i.e. our purpose
and the time needed to cultivate our gifts and talents to change or impact the
world.
Living in a timed
pressured world makes it difficult to switch off and handle adversity with
grace. For me, the Word
of God being the solution – pointing us to Christ, who is the solution! Knowing
God has allowed me to make the best use of my time, in spite of any trials or adversities.
When we focus on God it feeds our faith and starves our fears (Jimmy Evans).
Below
are two examples that has ministered to my heart in times of need:
Philippians 4:8 - Fix
your thoughts on what is true, and honourable,
and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are
excellent and worthy of praise.
John 8:12 - Jesus spoke to the people once more and
said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to
walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
By no longer focusing on the problems of the
world I begun to see the solution: addressing
the darkness that we are all under in this life. In redirecting my time to
something other than the circumstances, I was able to regain my love, peace and
joy that can only be given through Him.
I just want to close by saying that when we keep the main
thing, the main thing as the saying goes, we start to live, laugh and love just
as He intended for us. When you receive a peace of mind and heart from Light,
it shines darkness into the broken world we live in. Eventually set free, as no
matter what life throws at you because only through Him, we can be fearless in
our pursuits.
With peace and love
KIMI
