I pray this blog post is a blessing to you.
I made a conscious effort this year to be more mindful of how I
use my time. As discussed in last week’s blog post. My reason for doing this is
whilst we may have come from backgrounds that could have disadvantaged or
limited us in some shape or form. Feeding on this negativity can only paralyze
us into thinking we are powerless, which isn’t necessarily true.
Time puts us all on a level playing field, it is something we all
have that is the same; it is such a precious and priceless commodity and once
it’s gone, it’s gone. No amount of money can buy more or buy back time. Despite
this, most of us underestimate the value of time and its ability to change our
lives depending how we choose to use it. Mindlessly wasting my days are no
longer an option. Somehow my days were consumed with everything else apart from
driving myself forward.
There was a time when my world was consumed with the little
things. I never saw the bigger destiny than the one I was accustomed to.
I am a massive believer in this quote:  “How
we use our time today is an indication of our future because what we do today
ultimately shapes our tomorrows.” The harsh reality I had to accept is that my
reality today is a result of my (lack) of actions in the past. Once I humbled
myself to acknowledge this, change started to happen with the help by knowing
the truth.
My life now is in deep contrast to my life before I came to Christ.
Knowing the truth has allowed me to see past the physical. Because when I focus
on Him, I am no longer at the mercy of the pain and suffering that living in a
broken world can bring. One of the key differences I learnt is living without
God is all about striving for upgrades and is ultimately about possessions. This
typically leads us to believe that happiness is attached to things and this is
what life is all about. Living a life with God centers on love, peace and joy
that flows through our lives despite our external circumstances.
These free gifts from God are not highly sought after. The irony
is that most problems which exist stems from a lack of love, peace and joy. A
relationship with Our Creator doesn’t make us immune us to trials, but it does
give us a fresh outlook that causes us to rise above and never give up or give
in on living per say. When the Light of the World shines Light into our
darkness, it leads us out again into His Light. I loved this practical
application – To find peace, you have to lose your connection with the people,
places and things that create all the noise- unknown.
By focusing purely on Him, my life has become simpler,
straightforward and secure. He truly is my source of life.  Through Him my life is complete despite my
moments of lack because His Word nourishes my soul in order to make the best
out of every situation.
In next week’s blog post: I will give some specific examples of
how Christ has helped me to become better and not bitter.
With peace and love
